UNIFORM
Here at Nun Monkton Foundation Primary School, Children should come to school looking smart and wearing school uniform. We encourage every pupil to wear school uniform, so that they feel a sense of belonging and feel equal.
Most items can be bought at any shop of parent’s choosing, but there is a school branded cardigan or jumper available with the school name on which we would prefer children to wear. There is also a school branded hoodie available (but a plain blue hoodie from any retailer is also acceptable for PE sessions). These items can be purchased from the supplier listed below and are marked with an asterisk in the uniform list below.
Our uniform is as follows:
Boys
- White/Blue polo shirt,
- Grey/Black trousers or shorts
- Blue school sweatshirt/cardigan with school logo *
Girls
- White/Blue polo shirt,
- Grey/ black skirt, pinafore or trousers or Blue and white checked summer dress
- Blue sweatshirt/cardigan with school logo*
Children may choose to wear their school hoodie* if that helps them to keep warm in the colder months, but all children need to have a school logo jumper or cardigan for more formal school events so that they look smart
Footwear
- For every day children need to wear Flat, black school shoes (not trainers)
- Due to the nature of our play area, all children must also have a pair of wellies to wear each day (these can be left on the welly rack at school rather than bringing them to and fro each day)
On PE days (and days where they are going to a PE tournament/ event):
Children should not come in their usual school uniform, but in PE kit. They should wear
- either plain dark PE shorts or PE trousers.
- a plain tee shirt (preferably a plain white tee shirt)
- either a school hoodie or jumper*, or they can wear another dark hoodie so long as it is appropriate for school
- Children MUST also bring a clean pair of trainers to wear for indoor PE
- No earrings can be worn when doing PE
- Children should not be wearing branded football kit or normal school trousers
On Forest session days:
- Children do not need to wear school uniform on forest day
- Children should come in older clothes, which should be warm clothing, wearing long sleeved tops and long trousers.
- They must have waterproof trousers and coats and wellies too.
It is hugely helpful if your child’s uniform items could be named please (even the wellies), so that they can be found easily and also returned to the correct owner if they are misplaced around school.
Other key things to note:
- Children should not be wearing any jewellery (necklaces, bracelets etc)
- Children may wear a simple watch (not a Smart watch), but they will have to be responsible for looking after it during school time
- The only jewellery permitted are stud earrings if a child has pierced ears. These must be removed when it is PE or Forest sessions
- Long hair should be tied back for every school day
- Make-up and nail varnish should not be worn to school.
