School Performance

NUN MONKTON FOUNDATION PRIMARY SCHOOL PERFORMANCE DATA

We are justifiably proud of the very good standards and progress that children make during our time at the school. We foster a curiosity for learning, encourage a very strong work-ethic and have high expectations of all our pupils. Within this environment and the school’s ethos, children at our school attain and progress extremely well from whatever their starting point.

We are proud that last year our school was 18th highest achieving (see Yorkshire Post article). Our end of Year 6 results compare very positively against other North Yorkshire schools and nationally.

SCHOOL STANDARDS – Performance tables and End of Key Stage Data

The Department for education publishes school ‘league tables’ annually to allow parents to compare school results for each year group taking national tests. The link to the 2023 and 2024 attainment tables can be found  via the Government School Performance Service, where you can check and compare Nun Monkton Foundation Primary School performance

As a very small school our whole school data can be difficult to compare. Whereas children in a larger school may account for 1 or 2% of the data, here our smaller cohorts can mean one pupil accounts for anything between 11% and 33% of a data set. Last year each of our Year 6 pupils, for example, accounted for 14%. The data below provides information on how each cohort who undertakes National testing has achieved, but comparisons should therefore be made with caution

* The scores are calculated by comparing the key stage 2 test and assessment results of pupils at this school with the results of pupils in schools across England who started with similar assessment results at the end of the previous key stage – key stage 1.

A score above zero means pupils made more progress, on average, than pupils across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 1.

A score below zero means pupils made less progress, on average, than pupils across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 1.

** This score is known as the reading ‘scaled score’. The score is an average for pupils in the school. The expected standard is a score of 100 or more. The higher standard is 110 or more.
