PTFA

THE PARENTS, TEACHERS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

Our PTFA is a friendly group of people who are made up of the staff, parents and local community.  All of them care about our wonderful little school and work to help it continue to be the wonderful place it has been for many decades! They meet and plan fun activities for the children of the school – and help to raise funds for extra activities and events that the children can enjoy. Anyone whose child is at the school would be very welcome at any PTFA meetings or to help at any of the events – you will soon see how everyone in this community values the school and works to help with events and fund- raising.

The PTFA have a small committee, but their meetings are open to a wider number so that anyone with an interest in supporting them can come along to add their enthusiasm, expertise and ideas. Meetings are generally held termly and are very sociable but efficient in planning future events!

There are regular events organised and run by the PTFA, such as the annual Feats Day at the end of June where the whole village come together on the Village Green to join in a whole day of celebration. This includes a children’s fancy dress competition, the pupils all performing maypole and country dancing, stalls to browse, food and drink to be consumed and much music-making to be enjoyed. It’s generally a late finish but the dedicated PTFA  still turn up early on the Sunday to finish the clearing up!

The PTFA are good friends with Father Christmas and there is always time for a Christmas celebration each year,  with him making an appearance at the end of the Christmas term. Bonfire Night celebrations, Wreath making and Easter Egg hunting are other events the PTFA have recently organised.

Some of the recent activities have been a weekend to start our programme of improving the outside areas of the school over May Bank holiday when a group of PTFA and others worked hard under the direction of one of our very talented parents to revamp our playground and site with clearing, painting and planting. The children were thrilled when they saw the transformation on the Monday.

Recent activities such as the whole school going on a trip to the Pantomime and the older children going on a visit to the theatre to see Horrible Histories have been funded by the PTFA. Extra equipment such as atlases, books and play resources for the younger children have also been funded by the PTFA. The improvements to the school playground and site have also been funded by the PTFA.
